India is where Alvica’s journey begins.

Our travels first took us to Jaipur, a city where colour and craft shape daily life. It was here that our first collection, The India Edit, came to life, inspired by the city’s creative pulse, its floral motifs, and the visual richness that defines so much of India.

Craftsmanship is its foundation. Jaipur has long been a centre for hand block printing, a centuries-old art where patterns are carved into wood and pressed onto fabric with remarkable precision. We wanted to bring this savoir-faire into our garments. For The India Edit, we designed our own blocks, combining local florals with bold geometrics, and printed them by hand, layer by layer, onto the Jasmine Dress and Palm Tree Paréos.

In Mumbai, we turned to the fine artistry of Lucknow embroidery, adding delicate hand-stitched detailing to the Rainbow Kaftan. The colours and motifs throughout the collection draw deeply from Indian culture: flowers, trees, and palms, each carrying its own symbolism. The result is a collection that feels unmistakably Indian: an ode to its craftsmanship and its colours.

Because we work with a family-run workshop, each piece is made in small batches, often in limited editions. Made by hand, no two are ever quite the same; each holds the quiet rhythm of time-honoured skills and the spirit of the place where it was made.
